Sony has just announced their latest camera and it’s a true monster! The Alpha 1 features a brand new 50MP full-frame sensor capable of continuous shooting at 30 fps. It’s also capable of 8K video recording at up to 30 fps.

The new Bionz XR processor is 8 times faster than its predecessor and it allows for 30 fps shooting with no blackout. Despite the higher resolution of this sensor, the A1 has 1.5x less rolling shutter.
The autofocus is also better on the new camera, now offering 92% coverage. Eye AF has been updated as well and now works with birds, on top of people and animals.
When it comes to video, Sony Alpha 1 is truly incredible – it captures 8.6K footage and then downsizes it to 8K to provide an even sharper image. It can also shoot 4K video at up to 120 fps in 10-bit 4:2:2. Just like the A7SIII, the A1 can output 16-bit RAW video via its full-size HDMI output.
Finally, the Alpha 1 comes with a gorgeous 9.44 million dot OLED viewfinder with a refresh rate of up to 240 fps. It is truly spectacular thanks to its 0.9x magnification.
Sony Alpha 1 will start shipping in March with a retail price of around $6,500.
