Sony has just announced the new FE 35mm f/1.4 GM lens, which is part of their high-end G Master lineup, and represents their 39th FE lens overall.
The lens is incredibly sharp and features an optical formula consisting of 14 elements in 10 groups, with two extreme aspherical elements and a single extra-low dispersion element. The lens elements are moved around by twin XD linear autofocus motors, which means AF is fast and silent. The focus ring has linear response, which is great for focus pulling when shooting video.
Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM has a pretty good minimum focus distance of 27cm (10.6″), with a maximum magnification of 0.23x. The lens is weather sealed and has a focus hold button that can be customized. There’s also a switch for de-clicking the aperture ring.
The FE 35mm f/1.4 G Master will start shipping in mid-February 2021 with a retail price of $1,399.
