Panasonic has announced a brand new Lumix S lens for its line of full-frame mirrorless cameras (which currently includes the S1, S1R, and S1H) and it features a very unique focal range.
While the new Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 isn’t a particularly fast lens, it covers an extremely useful focal range. It goes from ultra-wide 20mm focal length all the way to 60mm, which is just a little bit longer than your standard lens.
The Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 is a pretty sharp lens and it weighs just 12.35 oz or 350 grams. Another standout feature is a maximum magnification of 0.43x. Although this doesn’t make it a real macro lens, it allows for some incredible close-up shots.
This is without a doubt one of the most interesting lenses we’ve seen lately, and we wish more lens manufacturers would start creating unique lenses like the Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6. The lens is going to be available at the end of July and will retail for $599.99.
