Panasonic has today introduced the Lumix G100 (also known as G110 in certain regions), their new micro 4/3 camera geared towards vloggers. It sports a 20MP sensor, very bright 3-inch fully articulating screen with touch controls and high quality built-in mics.
To keep the camera small and compact, Panasonic decided not to include in-body image stabilization (IBIS). Instead, it has digital stabilization that is not as effective and adds a noticeable crop. Panasonic G100 can shoot 4K videos at up to 30 fps (for up to 10 minutes), and it also supports 1080p video recording at up to 120 fps.
The camera features pretty good microphones considering its price. The G100’s “OZO” directional audio system was designed by Nokia, and it consists of multiple mics that can track the subject, record in front or back of the camera or capture sound all around it. The G100 also has a mic jack, if you need to add an even better on-camera microphone.
Panasonic G100 will go on sale in late July with a retail price of $749 (paired with a 12-32mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens) and if buy it in a kit with a small vlogging tripod, the price increases to $799.
You can preorder the G100 on Amazon right now.
