Leica officially announced the SL2 – a 47MP full-frame mirrorless camera with L-mount that is extremely capable not only when it comes to photography, but video as well. The new camera is capable of shooting 5K video at up to 30 fps, 4K video at up to 60 fps, and even 1080p at up to 180 fps. Quite impressive!
Just like its predecessor, the SL2 features 5-axis in-body image stabilization with 5.5EV shake compensation. It also sports the same excellent electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 5.76 million dots.
The focus on improvements in the video department is certainly noticeable on the new Leica, but it’s still an amazing tool for photography as well. It has a speedy Maestro III processor that gives it the ability to shoot with a maximum burst speed of 10 fps with a mechanical shutter and 20 fps when using an electronic shutter. The camera also has a multishot mode, allowing you to take 187MP composites.
Leica SL2 also has a slightly redesigned body, with a refined handgrip for easier handling, as well as improved weather sealing. It will start shipping on November 21, with a retail price of $5,995.
