When it comes to full-frame mirrorless cameras, Sony A7III definitely offers the most bang for your buck. Not only is it an excellent choice for photography, but it shoots amazing 4K video and has great autofocus. If you’re serious about shooting video with the A7III, we suggest investing in a decent external microphone. As you probably know, good quality audio is just as important as good video. Let’s take a look at some of the best mics for Sony A7III.

Best Microphone for Sony A7III
Below, we’ll go over five of our favorite mics for A7III, sorted by price from most to least expensive. If you want the ultimate quality and features go with one of the first two mics. However, if you need a lightweight mic for your setup grab one of the last two microphones on the list.
Rode VideoMic Pro+
The VideMic Pro+ is the latest mic in Rode’s lineup. It essentially offers the same audio quality as its older cousin – VideoMic Pro (which we’ll go over a bit later), but it has many new features like auto on/off function, buttons on the back of the microphone for easy control and a built-in rechargeable battery. We should note that this mic has somewhat pronounced low end and while some people like it, others prefer more balanced mics like the one we’ll cover next.

Deity V-Mic D3 Pro
Just like we said, this microphone is much more balanced, and for some people, that’s a great thing. It is also $100 cheaper and comes with a built-in rechargeable battery and a gain knob on the back. We believe that V-Mic D3 Pro offers quite a lot of value for its price.

Rode VideoMic Pro
This microphone is priced similarly to the Deity V-Mic D3 Pro. And while it offers the same sound quality as its more expensive brother (Pro+), it does lack almost all of the extra features. This also means that it doesn’t come with a rechargeable battery. Instead, it uses a single 9V battery for power.

Deity V-Mic D3
This microphone is similar to the D3 Pro when it comes to sound quality. It is also half the price and weighs less, but lacks many of the features. Once again, there’s no rechargeable battery (it uses a single AAA battery instead) or the gain knob on the back. However, we believe there are no better microphones for Sony A7III at this price point.

Rode VideoMicro
If you need the absolute smallest and lightest microphone for your A7III than look no further – Rode VideMicro is the one for you. It doesn’t require batteries, because it’s powered by the camera. It’s the least expensive microphone on our list as well, but keep in mind that sound quality wise it lacks behind others quite a bit. That being said, it’s still pretty good for its price and size.
