If you’re looking for the best budget portrait lens for Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras with E-mount (Sony A6600, A6500, A6400, A6300, A6100, A6000 etc.), you’re at the right spot. Here are our favorites:
Best Choice – Sony E 50mm f/1.8 OSS
This is one of our favorite lenses for Sony APS-C E-mount cameras. This 75mm-equivalent lens works great for portraits thanks to the fast f/1.8 aperture, which also makes it a solid choice for low light shooting. It is super sharp, even at f/1.8, which is pretty surprising for a budget lens. The bokeh is also beautiful and buttery smooth. We recommend getting it, even if you’re not shooting a lot of portraits – it’s simply a great lens.
We also love the fact that this lens has optical image stabilization. This will reduce camera shake and help you take sharper pictures at slower shutter speeds. It also makes it a great choice for Sony’s cameras that don’t have IBIS (in-body image stabilization). Finally, we just wanted to mention that this is one of the top-rated E-mount lenses and there’s is a pretty good reason for that.
Option #2 – Sigma E 30mm f/1.4
This 45mm-equivalent lens is an excellent choice if need a somewhat wider lens for your portraits. It’s very useful if you’re working in confined spaces or want to get more of the background in the photo.
Sigma 30mm f/1.4 quite small and light, it’s pretty sharp and has beautiful bokeh when shot wide open. The autofocus is very good as well, almost up to par with Sony’s own lenses. Overall, it’s hard not to recommend this lens.
