Best SD Cards for Fuji X-T20

Fujifilm released two APS-C mirrorless cameras in the beginning of 2017 – the X-T20 and X100F. In this article we’ll be focusing on best SD cards for Fuji X-T20, a camera that is essentially X-T2’s smaller brother. Interestingly enough, the price difference between these two cameras is pretty significant, while the specs aren’t too different. Of course, the X-T2 has better build quality, weather resistance, better processor etc., but they share the same sensor. This means that X-T20 is capable of producing really amazing photos and videos.

Best SD Memory Cards for Fuji X-T20

Unlike the X-T2, which has two SD card slots and support for the UHS-II standard, Fuji X-T20 has only one card slot that is limited to UHS-I speeds. This means that there are no benefits to buying a UHS-II card, unless you really need fast read speeds (which enables you to transfer files to your computer quicker). Here are some of best UHS-I cards for your Fuji X-T20, as well as a couple of UHS-II card options, if you don’t mind paying a little extra.

UHS-I SD cards (ranked by write speeds):

SD CARD READ SPEED WRITE SPEED SEE PRICE
SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB UHS-I U3 Up to 95 MB/s Up to 90 MB/s
Kingston 64GB UHS-I U3 Up to 90 MB/s Up to 80 MB/s
Sony 64GB UHS-I U3 Up to 94 MB/s Up to 70 MB/s
Transcend 64GB UHS-I U3 Up to 95 MB/s Up to 60 MB/s
SanDisk Extreme Plus 64GB UHS-I U3 Up to 90 MB/s Up to 60 MB/s

UHS-II SD cards (ranked by write speeds):

SD CARD READ SPEED WRITE SPEED SEE PRICE
Lexar 64GB 2000x UHS-II U3 Up to 300 MB/s Up to 260 MB/s
Transcend 32GB UHS-II U3 Up to 285 MB/s Up to 180 MB/s

Recommended SD Cards for 4K Video on Fuji X-T20

The somewhat unexpected X-T20 feature is the ability to shoot 4K video. Truthfully, the camera doesn’t have F-log, which may turn away some more advanced users, but you do have access to Fuji’s gorgeous film simulations when shooting video. 4K is recorded internally at the pretty standard bitrate at this price point – 100 Mbit/s (12.5 MB/s). This means any U3 should do the job. Of course, all of the cards we mentioned above are more than fast enough for 4K recording on X-T20.

Conclusion

Fuji did a really amazing job with the X-T20, and in our opinion it is one of the 2017’s best mirrorless cameras under $1,000. Choosing a right SD card for it is pretty easy – get one of the UHS-I cards listed above, unless you really need fast read speeds or you’re planning to upgrade to one of Fuji’s cameras that support the UHS-II standard (X-T2, for example) in the future.
